Newly Diagnosed

Hello!

My name is Dee and I'm 23 years old. I have only recently been diagnosed with autism and it has left me with a whole mix of emotions. I'm confused, angry that it wasn't picked up on earlier, but happy and relieved to finally have an answer. I always knew since I was in secondary school that I was different to those around me. I'm feeling a newfound confidence that I never felt before and I feel this is a new chapter in my life to explore.

  • Hi Dee.

I totally relate to how you're feeling and I'm sure you'll find other people felt/feel the same too. I was recently diagnosed last month at the age of 19 and although I most definitely felt the confusion and anger, it felt like a burdensome weight had been lifted that I didn't have to keep hiding who I truly am anymore and a new burst of energy and confirmation that I could be myself
