Hi !

Waited a long time to join here and connect to others who are in one way or another neurodivergent.

As is typical for my generation, I wasn’t diagnosed with Aspergers until I was 40, and received absolutely no support up until that point, but it has got much better since.

There’s greater empathy and understanding now when compared to the vacuum which existed when I was a kid back in the 70s, but you still encounter an inflexible, hostile, toxic minority, and perhaps one would wish to become part of a system which might lead to further progress, greater understanding and respect for our group, which is a prime motivation for joining here and discussing my experiences, with individuals who can relate to or maybe even perhaps learn something from my long-and-tortuous journey.

I pretty much conform to the Asperger cliche, including ;

-preferring to stick to my routines and hating disruption

-very physically non-tactile and OCD

-burn out easily and require long periods of withdrawal

-sensory hyper-stimulation

And, narrow-but-fixated pastime interests such as music, especially hard rock and metal, comics, films and video games. A bit of a nerd, perhaps being autistic as well makes that additionally next level.

That’ll do as an intro, anyway.  Look forward to posting again.
