Hello All  My nephew has recently been diagnosed with Autistic spectrum Disorder & ADHA. myself iam struggling not knowing anything about ASD. my nephew has bad behavioral issues. Im worring about everything as i no nothing on how to cope, manage, ect. Would greatley appreciate lots of good advice from similar parents carer grandparent ect in the same boat as me 

  • I'm in a near identical situation. My little cousin (more like a nephew relationship) he's 21 months and now being assessed/diagnosed with ASD. I know nothing about this but i really want too.

    I've tried to educate myself via the internet but there are other things i need answers too.

    He is a twin and where his sister will interact with us and play, he doesn't but i dont want him to be "left out" but he seems happy to be on his own, doing his own thing. Should this be incuraged or should we try harder to involve him etc...

    Any advice would be grately appreciated.

  • You can ask for an Carer's Assessment of yourself via social services and put a strong case for respite.

    I think you should phone the NAS helpline which is probably listed on the home page and ask for advice.

    If he has educational problems you could also contact your local Parent Partnership organisation for advice.
