Good afternoon, I am an older lady, recently diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. My name is April. I did not know of Autism until my granddaughter was diagnosed last year, though I confess I never imagined I would also be diagnosed with the same. Looking back, the signs were always there, but, Autism was not a known condition in those times. I do still feel I am much too old but as my granddaughter tells me, one is never too old for adventure. She, as do I, sees most things, even her Autism as an adventure.
So, here I am, at the start of my adventure.
It is a pleasure to be here with you.
Hi April, if I may call you that just this once. Glad you’re taking a positive attitude and I hope you find this a lovely community.
Thank you, The Commander.
Hello, Simon. I regret I have not been present since I joined but I intend to more as I am over pneumonia at last. I am glad you enjoy it here.
Hello, Debbie, a pleasure.
And thank you. It has taken a little time to fully understand everything but I am getting there, slowly but surely.
I must confess my great-granddaughter performed that magic. When she suggested a photo I knew I had to use one of dear Marilyn.
Hello, Sparkly. And thank you.
Welcome Pantomime, good to have you on board
Hello, welcome to the forum.
I'm new here myself, and have found the company and advice to be excellent.
Welcome.
I'm a 60 year old woman diagnosed a few months ago.
It's good to see such a positive response to your diagnosis.
I hope you enjoy the adventure
ps. You bear an uncanny resemblance to Marilyn Monroe.
Welcome Pantomime.
