Hi everyone I’m new here and I need some help.
My son was diagnosed as autistic at 3 years old.He’s been going to school since he was 5 and he’s now 9.
The school have been no help whatsoever.His speech is still delayed..he won’t sit on the toilet for a poo because he’s scared of the toilet flush.He eats beige food and doesn’t like loud noises
ive been to my gp to ask to see his paediatrician, but he says if there’s no concerns he won’t see him.
what can I do? I want to take him out of school…they won’t help with an ehcp neither..they say he’s learning..
im at my wits end..he can’t even cross a road safely
Hi, I’m not very knowledgeable on this but shouldn’t your son have SENCO or SENDCO in place to help meet his needs? It often comes down to who makes the biggest waves gets help. I had a problem that I couldn’t get help with so I had a friend write a well worded letter to my MP. I got a letter back and my problem was raised with a minister, my problem was addressed. Start high, the threat of a higher force often gets results.
You need to bypass the G.P and all the other people who do not listen. You need to get the ball rolling with an ASD Assessment.
It sounds like you're having a time of it. Have you family or friends around you for support? An advocate to help you?
With my daughters school, I had to persevere to find those who understood her difficulties. But it can be done. Stay strong :-)
