Hi everyone

Hi my names Michelle, my son aged 2 years 8 months is currently being assessed and we have good days and bad days. I think we always thought something was wrong at an early age when he never met his milestones. He has no speech whatsoever and he is currently attending speech & language therapy, OT, including others. The specialists have said he is possibly on the autism spectrum but he has still to be diagnoised.

  • Hi michelle - your son sounds like my son when he was that age.  He had no speech + went to speech therapy + a nursery whilst being assessed.  Later he went to an autism-specific school which I've never regretted.  He started talking when he was 5.  Speech therapy helped him enormously.  It's a difficult time whilst the assessment is being done but if he is autistic then it's a benefit to him to be diagnosed asap so he can get the support/services he needs.  How's he doing?
