Hello

Hi, I have just joined today.  Have son of 17/18 who is struggling right now.  He was only diagnosed 18 months ago with High-Functioning Autism, just before his GCSE's.  I feel so alone and find that as a Mum, other Mums with so called 'normal-functioning' children have never seemed to and don't seem to understand.  I am hoping we can find some support here.

  • Hi - welcome from me too.  You'll find lots of support + understanding here.  Also loads of info via the home pg + the posts, as you may already have seen.  I think most of us parents/children have been in a position at least sometimes when we've felt alone in a world which mostly doesn't understand + sometimes isn't interested in understanding.  Some parts of the country have groups you can attend so have a look on the home pg if you think it wd be something you'd consider.  My son's in his 20s - not HF/asperger + a lot younger than his yrs.  How's your son doing?
