Hello everyone, I am new here!
My son had his first video session for an autism assessment on Monday.
My question is, how good can they be via a video call? My sons school query ASD and ADHD which I do too but I'm worried that they won't be able to assess him well enough.
His appointment was with Healios and the woman was wonderful, he was present for the whole video call which was just under an hour but spoke continuously about Pokémon and even when asking him to complete the tasks with the pictures he would relate them back to Pokémon in some way.
I have another appointment with them tomorrow just for myself and then we have a 6-8 nervous wait.
Hi NAS79457, welcome to the online community. Although I don’t have any experience to share on video calls as part of an assessment, you may find our page on the Diagnostic assessment useful https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/diagnosis/diagnostic-assessment.
The page on Diagnostic tools may also be helpful: https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/diagnosis/diagnostic-tools.
I hope the appointment has gone well.
Best wishes,
Anna Mod
