new here

Hi all, I'm new  here. Yesterday, after months of talks, the doctor (a new one) told us that our 3 year old son may have autism. We have been referred to a specialist, so only at step one.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and look forward to a better understanding of Autism!

  • Hi Stacey

Welcome to the wonderful world of Autism! Strap in, get confy and prepare for one amazing ride.
Well, that's what I noticed anyway. Prepare yourself for rather a long jerny through diagnosis while you continualy reserch autism whenever and however you can. Yes their are bad parts to autism, and deffinatly some parts I would do anything to get rid off! (being very sensative to sound would be one, how many times I have been 'making a fuss' when something really is too loud for me and no-one else can hear it.. *sigh*) However I would not get rid of it completly, it makes me who I am.

So, what I'm trying to say is Autism has both good and bad bits. It's not always easy, okay its not easy very often but let's be honest I dont really have much choice! Just make sure you do what is right for you and your child regardless of what everyone else says, and if you want something enough then make sure you fight for it!
