Hello everyone

Hello everyone

I am seeking advice.  I am not autistic but I have a 43-year old female friend, an academic, who thinks she may be.  She is coming to London from Canada for a few months, and has asked me to help her find:

- a private autism clinic in London

- sufficiently well reputed in attending to gender difference/ bias in autism screening

- at least relatively affordable, and

- will see me within a reasonable amount of time?

Any advice?

  • You could try the directory on this site.

My personal recommendation would be the NAS Lorna Wing Centre who are certainly expert in women and more subtle presentations, but they have a long wait time at present.

I'd start searching early as due to the pandemic the services are in high demand.

It might be an idea to advise your friend to start collating old school reports, diaries, childhood videos; anything which might provide insight into her behaviours as a child or teenager. They'll probably want to see those.
