Hi, I’m new

Hello I’m new here, although not new to autism. I’m diagnosed as autistic, as are my two children. My son (11) was diagnosed in 2012 age 2, and my daughter (10) was diagnosed last year after a long delay due to pandemic. My husband is not autistic but he’s unfazed by our unusual ways!

My hobbies are sewing and exercise. My special interests are nuclear power stations (especially Russian built), North Korea, volcanic eruptions, USSR history and The Sacred Heart if Jesus, Stigmata. I am Roman Catholic in my beliefs, which goes some way to explain the latter.

The habit my husband finds most unusual is when I listen to my favourite music over and over, but rewind certain parts of the song to hear them again. He can’t understand why I do this but it’s hard to explain sensory ecstasy!

Happy I decided to join the forum.

  • Hi Sarah,

Welcome to the forums. I am 50 and am autistic. I also have two children who are also autistic and a partner who is not.

I love your special interests. I'm not sure about my own special interests, but I love travelling and music.

I work part-time and currently am studying a course in Autism. I'm on annual leave at the moment which is wonderful, as I have been having problems with burnout.

    Best wishes,

    Mrs Snooks
