Hi from Brum

Hello! I am new to this forum. I am Clare, mama to 3 boys who are 14, 12 and 4. My 12 yr old has Aspergers' Syndrome and ADHD. I have my suspicions about the other two aswell, but my eldest gets on just fine so I have never pursued it and my youngest, well it is early days, he is coping with nursery and home life just fine at the moment so I am just seeing how things go.

Josh only received his dx 2 years ago, after school pushed for us to get him assessed. And to be honest things have got worse ever since. We is in mainstream, yr 7 but it isnt going well. So we are just about to start looking into Specialist settings and recently began the statutory assessment process through the school Senco (who is wonderful).

I am looking forward to joining in here and hopfully getting some advice and ideas.

  • I also have two sons 9 and 14 who have both ADHD and Aspergers Syndrome. The one bit of advice i would give you Mrsmoo with regards to the statementing procedure is. DONT GIVE UP. dont be fobbed off and dont stand for any nonsense. I have gone through the statementing procedure twice with my children and SENAR told me themselves that its fact, although not fair but those parents who scream the loudest, get listened too.

    I wish you well.
