I think I joined this community several months (? years) ago but was put off by having to learn by making mistakes. However I've just read the Goth's editorial in the latest Asperger United and thought I should try again as it is the only way I'm likely to meet some of the 1 in 100 (!?) on the spectrum. I'm 52-ish and live in Hertfordshire a little north of London. I've had a diagnosis for about 6 years. The diagnosis has helped me understand myself but it has not benefitted me further. Last year I went to Autscape for the first time and picked up some interesting ideas, but I remain a disappointed member of the NAS as I feel it concentrates its attention on children such that the rest of the world thinks of ASCs as something that one will grow out of. I would love to hear from others with Asperger's who might be able to meet up in the London area every so often for a chat and perhaps go to the cinema, theatre, an exhibition etc etc. There are so many things I'd love to go to but I hate going anywhere on my own.
