I just noticed that you hadn't had any replies yet, so thought I would pop on to say 'hello', especially as you live just down the road from me.
I have a son who is in your age group [he and I are NT - neuro-typical] and I have a partner and a 5yr old son who are both AS. [Aspergers] Or maybe high function autism, it matters not esp as the diagnostic criteria is changing.
Have you thought about setting up your own business? You sound like you have a fine brain. Maybe you would need some help with the people skills stuff and any other areas that you find difficult, but all you need is a great idea, faith in yourself and the dedication to see it through. It sounds like you have all those potentially.
Life can be very challenging - for all of us. Its especially hard for young people now in this economic climate too. You have to hold onto your strengths and talents and find a way to carve out your niche. Everyone has these and you sound like you have more than most.
Are their any mentoring schemes in your area? Might be worth looking into.
