my 16 year old son has ADHD and tracies of ASPERGUS SYNDROME

Hi my name is marie this is all new to me although my son was statemented in primary school? my problem is i dont have any help with my son since he was kicked out of seconary school last year but was offered a place at a local college which sadley didnt work out and only lasted not even a couple of weeks! in my own experiences over the years i have not had the right help and support my son needs and i really dont know where to turn to next:( my son is currently at home but he should be studying for hes future.my son also has found it hard to come to terms with all of this and i am really worried he is loosing faith in me as hes mother because i dont know wot to do can anybody please give me any useful advice x

  • thankyou both so much for your input my son has no sort of support from any department and from the day he was kicked out of school! even though hes teachers were aware he didnt do well in the classroom as he is very easily distracted and gets bored very easily and really needed one to one i feel he wasnt given the right help with their chosen college as there was not the right staff who needed to be more pateint and understanding to hes needs because of this my son lost interest and felt very let down he refused to get ready on time or sometimes wouldnt get up in the mornings despite me being up at the crack of dawn to make sure he was ready but in the end after even going into the college to make them aware of my concernns but this was a waste of time as it seemed to me they really couldnt be bothered so now i feel like im in limbo and dont know what to do for the best. im also trying to look after my husband who has MS so most of my days are taken up with hospital visits or doctor appoinments etc so home life at the moment is very stressfull i have other children at home also its like treading on eggshells at the moment because of everybodys low mood Frown but im really grateful for the advice i will take on board your suggestions and let you know how it goes many thanksxxxxSmile

  • Hi - did your son drop out of school + college because he didn't have the appropriate support?  I don't know if that's the case but if it was then if you've a sw then get onto them to try + secure that support.  The advice above is also useful for you to pursue.  It is difficult when someone relies heavily upon you to sort things out.  You're the 1 with all the responsibility.  Many here will recognise that + understand your position.  You'll get a sympathetic ear on these pages.  We live in very difficult times with the ongoing financial crisis + government cuts year on year.  This means every one of us has to be ever vigilant to keep what we've already got, hard fought for in many instances, or to keep fighting for what we need for our loved ones.

  • please can anybody help with any advice or support for my son i havnt had 1 reply to my previous post starting to think there really isnt any help :(
