Faith and autism

Hello

My name is Michael and I was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome 6 years ago. I am also a Christian, and am about to start training to become a minister.

I know that some people don't agree/believe in religion - I don't mean to offend you by typing this question.

Does anyone know of any organisations or societies for autistic clergy/people in Church leadership?

Thank you for your help.

Michael

(PS this is my first post so sorry if it is in the wrong place)

Its more common than you might expect. I'm curious what route you're taking towards ordination / pastoral employment? A lot of ministers study theology at uni. Some go to specialist bible colleges, some denominations have their own training programs. There are multiple routes in. The support available will vary based on the route

  • I am a member of the United Reformed Church in England and am moving to the Scottish URC theological college. I was assessed and the assessors said I should be given additional support. But sadly it looks like I need to find this myself. But I don’t know where to start.
