Just recently got my daughter's diagnosis confirmed. She is also a type 1 diabetic. So now our journey begins with her autism, so thought I'd come and say hi and look around.
Hello Mimsy
Nice to meet you. Have you tapped into the local resources from your council here is what Kent Count Council offers as their ‘Local Offer’ https://www.kent.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0011/106310/Kent-handbook-for-families-information-about-autism-and-adhd-in-children.pdf
I found that the local charities help fill in the gaps left between health/social/education services and are great for hand-holding and sign posting. I’ve also learned loads from Autism communities like this one and have joined FB groups with parents of children with PDA and Sensory processing disorder.
I am autistic myself with one 9 y/o confirmed ASD, while the other 9 y/o has me scratching my head (there is something there but can’t put my finger on it).
I hope you pick up lots of tips from us all
Welcome to this forum. I work with 2 type 1 diabetics. I mean they are just as productive as anyone else in work,,,,,,,,so it isnt really a problem once you get the hang of it. But its easy for me to say that.
oof id say diabetes is the worse of the diagnosis there. i couldnt live without chocolate lol and comes with feet problems too so i heard which would be annoying for anyone that likes a good long walk.
