Good morning everyone. New to the site.

Please can anyone tell me how you feel we should identify ourselves to NT people? I am confused; some communities say we are autistic with neuro-diverse characteristics and tendencies and others say we have a condition called autism.

My employer says people with autism is the correct term but I have grown, knowing that I am autistic.

Parents

  • in work environment it is best to use "People with Autism", just to stop being corrected publicly in the work environment which can be very awkward. Other autistics ( you dont know about ) can and will complain if u dont use this terminology in the work environment.

    Also Employers have been asked by certain bodies ( advised by psychiatrists )  to always use that term in the work environment.

    outside of work anything goes.  Dont declare it unless necessary.
