Greetings

Hi,

I'm mum to three lovely kids aged 14, 6 1/2 and just 4. Within the last week, we've had tentative diagnoses of Asperger's for my eldest (a girl), Attachment Difficulty for my youngest (a boy), and "well, he's on the spectrum, definitely" for the middle one (also a boy).

My OH and I are finding the process quite daunting, and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of communication from the NHS to us so far, but it's early days and I'm trying to be positive.

Nice to find somewhere to chat with people in a similar situation. See you around the place :)

  • Hello,

thanks for the link Yousif, I'll have a look round.

Autismtwo, I don't know! Before last October it's not something we'd even considered about the kids - your kids are your kids and it's not something obvious like ie, a hearing problem or a speech defect - so I don't mind you asking, because again, I hadn't considered it, and it would be useful to know, I suppose.

Now we know what the signs are, and my mum's done some research, she thinks my grandad was probably on the spectrum. He had a photgraphic memory for cards, and his social interaction wasn't the best, but otherwise...would it be worth asking the psychologist or family GP?
