Anyone have any experience of an ASD spouse developing dementia?

Hi!

I’m Amanda and I’ve just joined. My husband is 77 and I’m 67 and he is undiagnosed Asperger’s. We only came to realise about 10 years ago so it’s been quite a learning curve for us both. I’ve tried to learn as much about it as I can in order to understand him and his behaviours better and (hopefully) make our lives run more smoothly. Lol. I’m hoping to keep on learning here and maybe share with others in a similar situation. 

My husband has begun to show possible symptoms of dementia including memory problems, difficulty with words and speech, and clumsiness. I was interested to see if anyone else has experience of an ASD spouse developing Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia.
