Recently Diagnosed and a bit lost

Hey there! Many late-diagnosed autistic people have felt lost as you have. You may relate to people like Ann Memmott, Cos Michael, Quinn Dexter and many others autistic advocates who were diagnosed late or were diagnosed many years ago. They have be a key part on my journey to understanding my autism diagnosis.

My employer knows now but I didn't disclose during the hiring process or even until I'd be in the role for 6 months. I casually dropped it into conversations with my colleagues and then my manager. Now I help run a Neurodiversity community with other autistic and ND colleagues. We've done panels and everything!

I'm sorry your employers freaked. I'm lucky that my employer is super into D&I (Diversity and Inclusion) and my bosses have been welcoming and curious to learn more.
