Hello! Interested in opinions...

Hello everyone! I'm involved in doing some work with HANDLE, I really like this approach and am wondering what other people's experiences are of it?

Best wishes,

Sarah

  • I had exactly the same sort of feeling KaloJaro.  Their material didn't seemed to be aimed at people on the spectrum as it was so vague, and they only seemed to have a partial knowledge.  One thing that disquieted me was, in some places, the use of the word "weak".  There were no specific examples of what they actually do.  I think Scorpion0x17 has hit the mark.

Perhaps eebrighton could explain just what the approach is?

  • They don't make it easy to read. They seem to say a lot without actually saying anything. Rings alarm bells for me. The fact they don't actually quote scientific sources and stress their 'views' as though they were facts is also exceedingly worrying. :(

If anyone can read their article on Autism and actually understand what they're on about, please, let me know, because it all sounds sketchy as hell, and this quote in their 'treatment' paragraph makes me worry even more:

'It frequently reduces individuals' resistance to experience the world.'

Resistance to experience the world? Its not like we're wearing blinkers they can simply rip off.

All I can say is be wary Sarah, and good luck. :S

    What is it?

Yet another institute/technique/approach that claims to be the leading institute/technique/approach in 'treating' (as though it were a disease) Autism.
