Hi all,
I am making this post because I would like to get to know other people with ASD/AS in my area. As far as I can tell, there aren't any local groups in my area. Hopefully, I am wrong.
I am a university student in Belfast. I am 21 years old. I haven't received an official diagnosis but after thorough consideration, I am convinced. I am reluctant to pursue an official diagnosis, in case it inhibits me in my future pursuits.
My hobbies are bodybuilding, chess, and philosophy.
Currently, I am on a journey of self-betterment. Previously I always severely underachieved, and so now I'm trying to give myself a proper kick up the backside. I hope to find a group of students who are ambitious and like me; a group of people that propel each other upward. How to find such a group is the question at hand. Currently, the only two people I know here are my two flatmates. I also am a very isolationist person, so I don't ever put myself 'out there' if you will. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading,
TM
What a shame!
Hi Karin,
I checked the description of both groups in Belfast, and unfortunately for me, they both are meant for parents and children, not (young) adults with ASD.
Thanks though
Hello TM,
Welcome to this forum! Hopefully you'll find members of this community in or near Belfast who'd like to get in touch. But in the meantime, the NAS has a few local branches in Northern Ireland, and more precisely in Belfast, which might be of interest to you: https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/local-branches?searchTerm=northern+ireland&postalcode=&radius=0
All the best,
Karin Mod
