Need some advice

Hi everyone, this is something that's been bugging me for some time now.

I have 3 children and 2 of them have been diagnosed with and, my third is too young to tell yet. They have been found to have a cell micro deletion that is linked to autism add and other learning difficulties and it has been found to be genetic and come from me, not the mother.

It has led me to see different signs that they have shown to have and that I can relate too, though I see myself as doing it much more mildly, like repetition, hair pulling, fidgety hands, social anxiety etc.

I d9nt know whether to pursue it for peace of mind, or if I am looking too much into it due to the cell microdeletion that has been found in me, that I'm assuming that its affected me too, I am 28 now, and its only been the last year that its been playing on my mind.

I dont want to consult my family as I believe I already know their responses.  "Youve got this far without looking into it" and " it won't change anything now"  but ots really been eating at me.

And due to mentioned social anxiety I wouldn't know where to begin!

Thanks in advance.

Luke

  • Dear Luke, I am quite new here, so not the best person to give you advice. But for me, I think it is important to work out your reasons for going down the route of diagnosis. There are some people on here that would say be wary and many others would say definitely go for it. Anyway welcome to the forum.
