Hi Everyone, I’m Sarah

Hi Everyone

My name is Sarah and I am 34. I haven’t got the official diagnosis yet, but it was my doctor that pointed it out to me. I had no idea what Autism was beforehand. Since then other doctors have agreed, but I’m on the ridiculously long waiting list. Now having discovered Asperger’s Syndrome, I’m surprised that my teachers never picked up on it. I am also new to the UK, I got here almost two years ago from South Africa. I have dual citizenship and have lived here before. My favourite things are perfume, skin care, animals, the environment, comedy and many other things. I am an introvert, but would like to make friends and communicate with like-minded people.

  • Hi Sarah!

I'm on here once or twice a week. I don't have an official diagnosis yet, but confirmed on the spectrum and slowly starting the process. And have worked so hard most of my life to make sense of social engagements that I started reading philosophy, studying psychology... one rabbit hole after the next! I do like essential oils. I recently made my own 'moth ball' packets with dried herbs (lavender, mint, thyme, cedar shavings, etc.).

I've had a few people ask if I'm Aspergers before I knew what it was. The more I learn about it, I do probably fit the dx, but I hear they're pulling it from the DSM. x
