Fond and pleasant greetings

Hello everyone,

My name is Sarah and I am the mother to an adorable 5-year old boy who has an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. My son was diagnosed aged 2 1/2 and also has global developmental delay. He is a happy child and has come on in leaps and bounds. He is walking and talking and is gifted in being able to read just about anything, a gift that has developed naturally. He attends a wonderful special school with very caring staff and he has even made some friends in his class, which iis amazing.

He was lucky to get an early diagnosis and has now got his Statement of educational needs. I feel blessed for sharing my life with him. He brings so much joy and light to my life and has taught me to have more patience, love and compassion.

Lovely to meet you all and to hear all your experiences.

  • Hi sarah thanks for your reply. Lovely to meet you. I understand how challenging it can be when your child is diagnosed with an autistic spectrum disorder. For me, each child is unique and individual. I've always viewed my son as a little person in his own right - he's always been just my little boy. I accepted his diagnosis but it didn't really sink in how he was developmentally delayed and diagnosed with severe learning difficulties. I think its important to be positive and always have live and patience. Children are a gift and we can learn so much from our children. X
