Living with Aspergers
Just imagine waking up each day thinking you dont belong
Not understanding facial expressions, body language, sarcasm and jokes
Not understanding if how you come across is right or wrong
Some days you wish you there was invisibility cloaks
You dont how to correctly socially interact
You parrot how other people act
Things are either black or white
There is no in between
You dont think before you say what you think is right
Sometimes you can come across quite mean
You dont know how to say how you feel
You feel so alone inside
When things go wrong it's all too much, too real
You just want to go away and hide
You can really focus on one thing
Zoom in on details and everything
It helps you to get through each day
In the hope you will understand everyday life someday
Certain noises seem so loud and make you feel annoyed
Especially when you are stressed or tired you want to avoid
We may seem insensitive to how you feel
But we dont know how to react when feelings are a big deal
We tend to speak in one tone
And we struggle with what to say on the phone
We tend to take things you say literally
But if explained we get it eventually
We have a habit of talking a lot about ourselves
Instead of talking more about yourselves.
We feel safe when our routines are the same
It's our the way our brains are wired that is to blame
We are kind and loyal and would be there for you anyday
We are all unique in our own way
