another newbie!

Hi

I just wanted to intro myself, and say hello Laughing i have 3 children and its my middle child a little girl of 6 who we suspect has aspergers. Ive recently seperated from their father but we are on good terms, but im really finding it hard to deal with my little girl, she gets sooo angry and agressive and has terrible mood swings and at times will self harm or hurt others. Every day is a struggle to get her dressed or get her shoes on,  simple things are so complicated for her and she still has issues with toilet needs. I am still waiting for her assessment but at least we are going in the right direction, her school is very supportive. But i feel so alone with it, my friends just see her as an adorable little girl ( which she is!) Its the behind the scenes things that they dont see which i struggle with, i guess i just want to know that im not the only one....

as a note i have bipolar disorder myself that is currently well controlled

thanks for reading!

  • hi - welcome to the forums.  You've done exactly the right thing by asking for an assessment - have you any idea when that'll be completed?   If she is diagnosed with autism, then I wd ask for a statement of educational needs as this shd help her get the support in school that she may need.  Lots of people don't understand autism. You can always tell when you try to explain something to them + they just don't get it.  You're certainly not the only one + you'll find a lot of support + info here + needn't feel alone any more.   If you haven't already, have a look at the posts + check out the home page.  Chip in whenever you want to.  bw
