I like trees. We need to plant more worldwide, especially in flooded areas to help soak up the water. I helped plant around 100 trees last year. I would like to plant more this year.
I did it with nhs staff and some patients at a local psychiatric hospital where I volunteer. I have also been planning on planting trees on my walks. I have collected many different species of native seeds which I need to try germinate too. That’s good about the guy in the USA. I have a passion when it comes to nature. It is a dream of mine to own some land one day too, which will be great for the wildlife.

Yes that’s true. There’s always been an attraction for wooden made objects for me. For example my furniture is mostly made of solid wood. I don’t like metal or glass or plastic furniture etc in my home.
That’s interesting. I know willow is bendy so would be good for fishing rods and maybe bows? Not sure about others right now. I could be wrong it’s just a guess. edit. I just googled it and bow making isn’t one of them.
the Victorians(?) made a catalogue of what each wood / tree was good for. So you would look for the thing you wanted to do eg build bridge and the types of wood would be listed and why.
That would be nice. That’s a good idea. I might contact my local council and ask about some land near where I live to see if they don’t mind me improving it by planting various plants for pollinators and trees and maybe a small wildlife pond for newts and frogs and dragonflies.
