Hello. Just joined the group after my 19 year old son was recently diagnosed on ASD (old school Aspergers).
My head is spinning thinking about all the times in the past when we thought my son needed help but didn’t know what or why. Thinking about how things will work out in the future for him is just as mind blowing too.
I’d be happy to read any tips or advice from others that have gone through this initial stage with their adult children.
Thank you.
there are a lot of youtube videos on autism ---- i don't uh... mean the ted talks where the person w asd (autism spectrum) can balance on a pin, divide three numbers by pi, program in c while high, and memorize ... well, something super complex... um, but here'sa slightly more mundane one: this guy wrote a book called look me in the eye. he luckily had a lot of interest in electronics and music. he talks about the struggles he's had in his life, though.... what is was like growing up with aspergers, wo knowing it... why he took to fixing cars, and how ,when he was older., he found out he had aspergers
