Hello all

Hi all, I'm a 39 year old from London, I have a 4 year old son Myles who is Autistic, he was diagnosed just after he was 2 years old.

I also have a 19 month old son Cohen, who has just been referred to be assessed, as is he is showing characteristics of Autism.

The more I learn about Autism and seeing how Myles acts and behaves etc I believe that I am Autistic too. I went to the doctors a few months ago, but he tried to dismiss it as me being shy.

I will be seeking a second opinion as the more I think back to my childhood etc I am convinced that I am Autistic.

Anyone else in the same situation?

Hi MartinH,
I think you are right to try and understand yourself. GP's are not always so informed regarding AS. I am guessing that you would be high-functioning?
Read as much about the subject as possible and then insist on a referal to a specialist. Be prepared for a long wait though.
Something to think about is WHY you want to seek a profeesional opinion.

hi MartinH - if you haven't already, do a search thru the posts. You'll find a number of posters in the same or similar position as yourself. I'm sure posters will chip in soon to respond to your post.
