Hi,
My child is waiting on an assessment and I keep asking the health professionals on how many traits a child must show to be diagnosed with autism? Unfortunately, they tell me they don't know. I was wondering if any one could help me out on advice with this please. My child has two, doesn't talk a lot and will not touch or eat solid foods.
Also my child says words in context, but not enough. Will my child ever speak or is this the only forms of communication?
Hi, can I ask how old your child is? That may help people to guide you to information.
4 and a half
I'm not an expert on children but it sounds like you may be right to seek out some help with understanding why your child's communication isn't up to what you'd expect.
Autism can include trouble with communication. Also, there may be other reasons why as well. The National Autistic Society has some guides that may help to get an idea of how autism may present in children:https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/communication/understanding-and-developing-communication

Also, maybe a parent will offer some thoughts here.
It's good you're collecting information.
Aside from this I can just nod here as I've reached the limit of how much I can personally answer here (ie the limits of my knowledge regarding young children's autism traits).
