Hello everyone,
Im new to this site and have been reading through a lot of your posts on here tonight.
Im feeling a bit lost and worried at the moment. My son is 2 years and 2 months old and I had to pretty much force the gp to get him seen by a specialist as I had concerns that he was showing some autistic traits. They keep telling me he is too young to diagnose but I want to start putting things in place now to help him and us cope better. I will be going back to see the specialist again in April for a 6 month follow up and will take it from there.
My son has had some obsessions like walking over drains or uneven ground, watching classical music DVDs over and over. Having to have the law mover out in the garden when he is out there. He will scream and cry in play groups or loud busy place. He does not like people laughing unless your laughing with him or talking in an authoratarive voice even if it's not directed at him. I have an 8 month old daughter and he can't stand the sounds she makes when cooing, so I have to feed them separately otherwise he won't eat his meal and needs to leave the room. He wants to play with others I can see it but children that make any kind of loud noise like scream or cry or pretend to be a monster or something he just chant be in the same room as. I can't have friends with children over etc and life is hard to adapt to.
When he freaks out he gets so angry and aggressive and hits his head in the floor or wall or tries to lash out. He becomes inconsolable and deverstated
Wen he has a good day he is do kind helpful and loving.
Does any if this mean anything to anyone? I need someone to talk to really as I don't feel anyonIsis hearing me or wanting to help. What can I do to help him cope so he will be able to cope with school etc
sorry to ramble on, just getting desperate and want to know if I'm just being silly and this is what normal 2 year olds do??
