Hello fellow Aspies
I'm a 24 year old Autistic woman and it's only recently that I've really started to take my Autism into consideration. That's why I've joined this forum, in hopes of helping me understand it a lot more and also being able to relate to other people (something I struggle with!)
I also struggle when it comes to online communication. It feels like a chore to constantly keep up with it. I know a lot of other Autistic people find it's the best way for them to communicate, and I'm sort of hoping that's how it will be for me. Or at least, I hope to become better at it. :)
So yeah, just wanted to introduce myself. Hope to be able to speak to lots of cool people and improve my online presence.
Peace out ^^
Haha, I'm terrible at sarcasm! When I'm being serious, it often comes across as sarcastic. When I'm being sarcastic, it usually sounds like I'm being serious. I've had to backtrack and explain myself many times!
Hi, Nugget The Chicken Welcome to the group :)
I'm 25 and I'm currently awaiting my diagnostic assessment (I've been on the waiting list for 10 months, which feels like far too long). I also joined the forum to understand myself better, and I've found it so helpful.
Looking forward to hearing more from you :)
We still have our Gamecube. That's the only one we've preserved. Although still have all my GBA games.
The new Smash is good and having them add new characters is cool, although Waluigi is still not a playable character
There's a GBA emulator out there on the interwebs. You'll probably have to 'obtain' the game ROM from the internet too, which IMO is perfectly reasonable since you already own the physical game, but technically not legal.
I look after my consoles! Still got an original NES, amongst all the others. Dropped my GBA though! I'll find a new one though, yeah!
I'm a Smash Bros. fan. Finding it hard to resist buying a Switch to play the new one.
I'm impressed you kept it going for that long! I'm sure you can replace it though.
The only games I haven't played were Black & White 2. Can't wait for the new ones! ^^
My Gameboy Advance packed in a few weeks ago. Not pleased! There are quite a few Pokémon fans here. I only play the classics. Didn't go past Sapphire.
Thanks for the welcome :)
hi welcome
dive into the forums and enjoy yourself
aidie ( ASD )
lol yeah it feels like navigating a minefield on there sometimes. It's why I don't bother anymore. That and nobody cares what I have to say
Well you've got guts to even post on Twitter imo. Everyone's so fragile, I'd probably say something stupid and offend the entire planet, end up becoming a meme or something.
Hey there!
Yeah I love Pokemon. Love playing the games and have quite a few Pokeplushies too! ^^
Hello and welcome to the community! I'm guessing by the title you are into Pokémon?
Yeah, I've never really had much success when it comes to online communication. On Twitter I've tried being friendly and stuff but always feel like I'm coming off as phoney?
Maybe it's just me, but it never feels natural. Sometimes when I'm messaging people I know, I still feel that awkwardness. Like I'm intruding on their lives or something.
Welcome aboard. I can definitely relate to communication sometimes feeling like a chore. Some days I can chat away (so long as I can keep up with the conversation), others I just can't be bothered and maybe disappear for days at a time. People take it the wrong way and think you aren't interested or don't like them for some reason, which is a reasonable assumption I suppose, but as with everything autism related it's never that simple. And so I too spend ages writing and re-writing posts. Doesn't help that half the time on this forum when I write a reply and hit post it just disappears into the ether!
Thank you. I'll have a look at that. :)
I just like to make sure that every newcomer gets a warm welcome.
ASD has three levels. 1, 2, 3.
To get more information on the different levels have a look at this web page: https://www.healthline.com/health/levels-of-autism
I am sure that your sense of humour will be most welcome on here. Other users will most likely be able to tell that you are using humour to communicate.
Thanks for the welcome! :)
I didn't know that ASD had diagnosis levels. I'd like to know more about that.
With written words, I often find I get paranoid that it's going to be interpreted wrong. I like to make jokes and often use sarcasm and sometimes I've had it backfire quite badly... So I can sometimes spend ages re-writing the simplest response.
But anyway, I'm looking forward to getting to know people on here. ^^
Oh, and "Peace Out!".
Hello and welcome to the forum! I was diagnosed with Level 2 ASD just a couple of months ago.
I, myself, seem to communicate better with the WRITTEN word, rather than the SPOKEN word. Put me in a social situation and I virtually clam up.
Feel free to ask any questions you like, and feel free to read my profile. Everyone on here is very welcoming and friendly, we will try our best to make you welcome and give you the best advice.
