Hello.
My name is Alberto, I've just turned 40, and by suggestion of my psychologist and after reading some books about AS and Asperger's I'm starting the journey to get a diagnosis.
I moved to the UK a couple of years ago for work reasons. I'm currently living in Cambridgeshire.
Being somewhat new to the UK and very probably being on the spectrum, making friendships is very hard for me. I sadly can say that I have no friends at the moment here and my family lives in a different country. So, yeah, it can get lonely sometimes.
These past couple of years have had their difficulties, but I'm happy-ish at were my life is heading.
Well, that's it for now...
Hope to get to know some people around here.
Hello and welcome to the forum!
Welcome!x
Hi Alberto,
I've only been on this forum myself for a little while, but it seems like a supportive place.
We are about the same age - I only realised I was autistic in my mid-30s, although I spent a couple of years reading up about it before I even mentioned it to anyone.
Do you like Cambridgeshire? I've only been to Cambridge a couple of times, but thought it was lovely.
At the risk of repeating myself (I mentioned this on another thread a few days ago), have you looked into Meet Up groups for autistic adults in your area? Hopefully there are some in Cambridge itself at least and that might be a good way for you to meet some new people and make some friends who you will already have one thing in common with.
It's good that you are happy-ish with the direction your life is taking!
Hi and welcome. I’m 47, currently on waiting list for assessment.
