hello

i am new to forum and wanted to introduce myself i have a son who is 8 we are currently going through the diagnosis process.

this is quite a daunting process i dont know if my son will be diagnosed with anything or not but have strongly believed for some time that is on the spectrum somewhere.

this is so strange i am really nervous writing on here and im not sure why !

my son j is the most lovely child but has obsessions and qaulities that link him to autism and aspergers. my friends and family are supportive but dont really understand and i think im just needing to chat to people who do xxx

  • hi Beany - welcome to the board.  There a lots of posts that wd be gd for you to have a look at, if your child does get an asd diagnosis.   Yes, it's a worrying time for you + taking the step of joining these boards must feel like a big leap.  I think you've done the right thing by joining in advance of a possible diagnosis but perhaps doing makes it more "real"?   There are lots of posts from parents who have been given a diagnosis of asd for their child, me included.  Altho my child's a young adult now, I still vividly remember feeling very emotional and confused about it.  Also, I think it can be difficult to explain to family and friends.  Take your time with things for the meantime, whilst you're waiting for the report, have a look at the posts here in case.  bw
