Worried about my son :-(

Hi there, I'm brand new to this websitesons have found it extremely helpful, I found it researching autism as I'm extremely worried that my two year old is affected and have no idea where to go next! I have had my worries about my youngest son for a while, he met all of hisphysical milestones extremely early, but he began to slow and regress at about a year! He started saying mama and dada but now doesn't speak at all! He isobsessed with thetelevision and he sits in front of it and won't move, he doesn't respond to his name and he seems like he is in his own little world a lot of the time! He doesn't point or wave and he only gives eye contact on his terms! He is not very affectionate and again it is only ever on his terms. The most worrying behaviour is his tantrums when he gets upset its difficult to identify what it is that is bothering him, and it escalates very quickly he starts hitting and punching himself in the head, bashing his head off the floor and throwing himself backwards so his head bangs. I'm really worried and have seen my GP who seems reluctant to send us further saying he isn't worried! But I am!! I was just wandering if anyone can give me aya guidance as to whether this sounds lauto characteristics of autism and maybe where to go next?!

Any information or guidance or plain opinion will be greatly appreciated!

    This is the first time I have been on here too. I happened to see your post so I thought i would reply as you sound very similar to me. 

    My son is 22 months , no words, pointing, waving, limited eye contact and doesn't seem to understand most of what I say . He also has the mega tantrums you describe , sometimes I have worked out it is certain noises that set him off. He does seem to exhibit asd  behaviours too like flapping and repetitive running 

    At the 18 month check my HV referred him so he has now seen the paediatrician who thinks asd is likely . He has an ados assessment when 2.He is also booked in for a hearing test and blood tests. I would see a different GP as if there is a problem the earlier you intervene the better. You can self refer to the paediatrician for an initial assessment or have you tried your HV? Hope you get somewhere with it all. Good luck.
