Hello, I'm a newbie to NAS Forum and autism :)

Hiya everyone. I'm Sam, I'm 27 from Staffordshire and I have two very beautiful little boys. Alfie (3years) and Jensen (9months).

Alfie has just been given a "working diagnosis" but also told he is in the middle of the spectrum.

Got told he will be getting re-assessed in 6 months time for a full diagnosis.

Alfie (in my eyes) seems to have a severe side of autism as his communication andsocial skills are lacking. He has only just began to talk by counting to 10 (and backwards) and his primary colours. There are other traits he has which make me think he's more sever but in sure you all know what they might be!

Im trying to find as much help and advice as I can and would love to meet new parents who's child has recently been diagnosed.

  • hi Sam - my son didn't start talking until he was about 5 when he said a short sentence.  He could understand a good number of words and short phrases before that.  His pronunciation was poor but he had a good speech therapist.  He's grown up now and can talk the hind leg of a donkey when he wants to.  I'm sure other parents will be along soon who've recently had their child diagnosed.
