To quote someone's message, first select/highlight the relevant text, and then use the Quote button that appears
To "mention" someone, type @ followed by the start of the forum name, and choose from the list; that person will get a notification of being mentioned

I'm new here today,

I'm trying to go to my GP to be refered,but I just panic about not being taken seriously because my mum laughs at me for bringing it up.

This issue, Alex, was that the posts are in v23's thread, but weren't replies to v23's post, rather than them being in the wrong forum.
