Hello, looking for advice and guidance.

Hi I'm Mitch, new to the forum, we have two boys, 13 and 10, we are waiting at the moment for our 10 year old to be assessed for possible ASD/OCD.  He was diagnosed with Dyspraxia when he was 4 with having severe speech and language disorder.  We are having difficulties with his behaviour, he has compulsive behaviour which affects the rest of the family.  He often gets annoyed and no matter what we say to him he just does not listen but he calms down very quickly and soon forgets what the issue was, while the rest of the family are still hot and bothered !

We are finding it very difficult and thus putting an enormous strain on the family and our marriage. Does this sound familar or are we going mad ?

He sounds similar my son who is diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome which differs from Autism in some ways but is still on the spectrum.

My son also gives some eye contact and has 'average' academic ability. I think they learn some rules of society such as eye contact, common phrases and actions in some situations and this concentration is where alot of the meltdowns come from.

Dont forget that puberty may not be far away and this may add to his anxieties.

I hope al goes well with his assessment, dont be afraid to speak your mind at the meeting x
