Desperately seeking friends to help us through these early days & beyond :)

Hello to everybody,

I have just joined your community tonight, and soo a big hello :)

I am hoping this will prove to be a great resource of advice, guidence and general support as my 14 year old son has recently been diagnosed autistic. It is a very late diagnosis probably due to him being diagnosed dyspraxic in primary school. Upon until late 2011, I assumed my son's difficulties were due to this condition and I suspect the professionals around him thought the same.

I have so many questions to ask but want to use this post as a way of saying hello for now. And besides, I think  it will be much better for me if I reserch the huge amount of information already posted on your  site. I have no doubt there are many answers already beeing discussed.

It is a lonely world out here just now for my son and his wider family.

Wish us luck xxx

  • Welcome Happy

This community has a lot of knowledge and shares it with those that are also on the same road as you.  As Kim said, it is reassuring to hear from others on here as although we may not be next door or even down the street, there is a large community of families  in the UK going through the challenges and the great achievements together.

I find it great to get things off my chest on hear to people that understand.

    Take care and speak soon
