Desperately seeking friends to help us through these early days & beyond :)

Hello to everybody,

I have just joined your community tonight, and soo a big hello :)

I am hoping this will prove to be a great resource of advice, guidence and general support as my 14 year old son has recently been diagnosed autistic. It is a very late diagnosis probably due to him being diagnosed dyspraxic in primary school. Upon until late 2011, I assumed my son's difficulties were due to this condition and I suspect the professionals around him thought the same.

I have so many questions to ask but want to use this post as a way of saying hello for now. And besides, I think  it will be much better for me if I reserch the huge amount of information already posted on your  site. I have no doubt there are many answers already beeing discussed.

It is a lonely world out here just now for my son and his wider family.

Wish us luck xxx

  • Hi happy, I'm reasonably new here to, like you my son has just been diagnosed and he is nearly twelve, unlike you he was never told he had anything else and it's taken ten years to get to the place we are at. It does feel lonely at times, but please try and remember although you may feel lonely, you are not alone. Kim x
