New - In so many ways!

Hi Everyone, I am new to this site, new to ASD, new to everything my 3 year old and 18 month old teach me.  They both have ASD and we are all learning how to work with this.

Portage come once a week which is really helpful and I try and take them to the local sensory room at least once a month (this works wonders for them).  My 3 year old is high functioning and very chatty but stim's for England and seems to be having more severe meltdowns as he gets older.  My little one does not make eye contact, does not speak, does not wave, point or clap but has the cutest giggle.

I wanted to come on here and introduce myself and hopefuly get some advice because come September we are moving house! I'm not so worried about the little one but for my 3 year old this is going to be hell.  He knows if anything in the house has been moved, or if anything is missing.  I am not sure how I will go about boxing up everything, getting rid of rubbish, moving everything out, being in a new house and the worst of all he moves School too!!!!

If anyone has experienced a move or can offer any advice we would really appreciate it

With regards to moving house I would suggest giving him as much info as soon as possible. Start driving past the new house telling him it's going to be his new house. Are you able to get any photographs of the inside (perhaps have a word with the Agent) so again it starts looking familiar. What about a social story about house moving that maybe incorporates some of the phots, having to pack boxes and throwing things out.

Dont forget moving house and starting school are big events in anyone's lives so it is understandable that taking into account ASD things will stressful and difficult.

    Take care xx
