Newly diagnosed Aspie

Hello everyone. I haven't read through any of the current discussions yet, I'm just jumping right in to introducing myself.

I was diagnosed on Monday with Asperger's syndrome, after a 4-5 year "battle" through the health service, adamant that I needed help and support. Took their time, but after I found the right GP, I finally got there in the end :)

I am a 25 year old male, with an interest in computers and electronics. My knowledge doesn't go very far though, as I have a terrible habbit of changing my interests quite frequently, so I tend not to learn much.

I'm full-time employed in a local retail store, but it is often very daunting, especially during periods when the local school closes for the day and at weekends (gets very noisy and busy). Nearly lost my job a few times, for various reasons, but I'm still there, earning my pennies.

I am also now trying to build a website to try and help provide information and support for adults with Asperger's syndrome, and other ASC's. Whether I'll complete the website or not, only time will tell.

Anyway, not sure what else to say for now, but I hope to get to meet some very wonderful people here :)

All the best,

  • I change interests often too, my obsessions tend to last 2-4 months, the longest obsession I had was fishkeeping for 4 years but I gave that up a couple of years ago.

One obsessions a few years ago was web design (I self taught myself HTML and PHP) I started doing a degree in web devlopment then lost the obsession and only really do web design as a favour to people now (local charities etc). Have you made a start on your site yet?
