longman said:As I say evidently Scorpion0x17 you don't feel you are being provoked.
I don't think you should either.
Temple said:I was not aware I was being an arbiter, my apologies Scorpion0x17. I'm merely having difficulty finding any new threads that I can comment on. You obviously are more adept are these kinds of discussion. I am more easily affected by the feeling i'm being provoked, whereas you seem very comfortable with this. I'm not sure many are.
am i provking people i don't want to provoke people does provoke mean upset people because i don't want to upset people.

Don't worry Temple, I think longman is being overly sensitive.
You're certainly not provoking or upsetting me.

Well, if that wasn't your intention then I appologise, however it is how your recent posts have come across, to me at least.
Why do you feel you are being provoked?

longman said:Well it might be nice to hear your view rather than your Temple Grandin alter ego...this is after all a discussion forum for autism. The real Dr Temple Grandin's view is very distinctive and most have read one or more of her books.
Strangely one of our other recent joiners, who hasn't been on since 26th April, was talking a great deal about Temple Grandin in the last postings. And a fascinating coincidence, someone more interested in being provocative than actually engaging in discussion of autism at the same sort of level as everyone else.
However if you feel comfortable as Temple Grandin perhaps it would help if you could give us your perspective of life with autism.... But don't feel obliged to do so on my account. I'm not upset, just intrigued......
i would like to know if other people are going through the same things as me like if they can't tell what they are thinking is well i know what i want to tell people but i can't seem to tell them and i just end up crying becaue i'm thinking they are shuting at me or ngery at me because i can't tell them what i want to tell them.

@longman: Whilst I agree with you about 'Temple Grandin' using the name 'Temple Grandin' potentially leading to confusion, I do wonder who, exactly, it was that appointed you arbiter of all that can and can not be discussed on the forums.
If 'Temple Grandin' wants to discuss the works of the real Temple Grandin, and/or labels, and not much else, then why shouldn't she (or he)?
Again, I ask you, who appointed you arbiter of what should and should not be discussed on the forums?

longman said:Ah but there lies a problem....most of your postings have been drawing attention to the works of Temple Grandin which, coming from someone using the name of Temple Grandin, does lend itself to confusion.
I wondered if you had any contributions to discussions about autism that weren't simply variations and themes around calling yourself Temple Grandin? Oh yes, I forgot.....labels.
i'm not very good at writing and explaining myself very well i don't know what would you like to know i could tell you what it is like for me being autistic but i just don't feel people want to know that.
i'm sorry for upsetting you i just don't know what you want me to tell you.

Scorpion0x17 said:I don't think you're 'upsetting' anyone. Certainly not me.
I do however think using the name Temple Grandin might lead to confusion, for the reasons I gave previously.
I know that the real Temple Grandin has been mentioned and/or quoted in at least one post on these forums and I suspect she will be mentioned and/or quoted again.
There may even be some that, upon seeing the name, will think that you are her, no matter how likely, or indeed unlikely, it is that she would use her own name.

Just to say quickly - we didn't feel confused about whether this was the real Temple Grandin posting but it's something we can change easily. We could make it just 'Temple' if that would help avoid any confusion?
