Hi my 15 yr old son has had support since year 7, is in mainstream school, he originally was diagnosed with aspergers traits, but recent assessment says he does not reach all criteria but on border. He has had a ot assessment. recently. awaiting results. He has bouts of anger, and gets irritated depending on mood, which leads to anger, which he has had help with anger management, he has suprisingly like a wine seems to improve largely with age, his anger outbursts have grown far less frequent, he does not seem to understand some social niceties, like not excessive overeating at a buffet, not being very PC, and sometimes(not always ) seems unaware of peoples feelings , he has said he does not always understand peoples emotions.he is very intelligent, good grades, but at school he has had behaviour problems eg, refusing to do what is asked , when he feels it is unjustified. has a strong sense of injustice .He had early puberty ahead of his school friends, and we had a trying time, inclsions, and suspensions for a few days, due to not major incidents, silly things, but they added up.
I felt that (naively) that all these behaviours were result of his early puberty, wanted too..., but this weekend , he behaved very strangely, and we are very alarmed, he had what after googling symptoms,a 'meltdown' a first, and now are so worried how to help him, he says he got very angry but did not know why, and walked fast around and around, he says his friend said he was agressive verbly and wanted to punch things, Help do we , how do we tell the paeditrician we have a appointment soon, what happens when i tell his school that he had a anger outbursts after a long period without hardly any major problems for quite a while, I want to help and protect.
