I guess I just needed to share..

Hi.

I guess I just needed a place to share this. My son is 3 and is newly diagnosed with autism as well as complex learning needs...

I also have a little girl.

I struggle alot.

I am unsure as to how I am going to cope..

Hes a lovely, happy, beautiful little boy when life is on his terms.. but to go against this.. even by just leaving an area of play, the wrong colour blanket, the wrong texture... and he just gets so angry..

He doesnt need much sleep..

I am one extremely tired mummy but sometimes dont feel I deserve any additional help.

  • Of course you deserve all the help that’s on offer Megs, and probably more! Hope with your son having a diagnosis now you will get the help you need, both for him and for yourself and perhaps also not just with autism-related things (with those too of course) but also generally to have a bit more time for yourself to relax for a moment now and then and for your daughter. You seem to be such a loving mum, but when being so extremely exhausted nobody can function particularly well anymore, we tend to get impatient, short-fused, grumpy and all those things that aren’t exactly helping when dealing with kids or any other people, not even the most easy-going ones and your son isn’t always easy-going. Please ask for support, it’s not a weakness to admit that you struggle, otherwise they may not offer you everything that’s available. Fingers crossed that something kicks in soon and allows you to feel more capable of dealing with whatever the future brings.

Take care and let others know how things are going, especially when something is not going so well, perhaps that helps to feel not quite so alone with it!
