Child has autistic traits no diagnosis refered for ados then what?

Hi,

My son has his autism assessment, and was told he had definate autistic traits, that he has learned some social rules, and seems to mask. So they gave no clear cut diagnosis, but have refered for an ados assessment with no timescale given. Today i got a letter refeing to a sensory workshop, enabling me to invite school.

What I want to know is what happens after the ados? Would the ados be the decider in a diagnosis, or will there be more assessments now and another mdt meeting to confirm or not?

He has communication issues, and social interaction issues, he likes routine, and likes to be the one in control of that too. He has been restrained in school numberous times in the past but now well managed though on a partial timetable, but is very much behind his class mates as he is in mainstream. I know next year he will not cope with SAT's and he is currently just holding it together at the moment.

Thank you in advance for any replies.
