Hello. I'm looking for some advise on my 3 year old son. We believe he is Autistic and it runs in the family both sides. Recently in the past 3 weeks he has had the flu and since then he has been hitting himself with his fists in the head (on the temples) and throwing himself at doors/walls/the floor ect. It has got to the point that it is happening daily at home and also at playschool. He doesn't currently speak so he can't tell us why it is happening.
We are really worried about him really hurting himself and he doesn't seem to know how to stop it. I have recently found turning the shower on and flashing lights help but now they don't seem to be having much affect now.
We took him to the doctors who said it could be due to him being unwell and to wait and see if he calms down but apart from that there seems to be no help out there. In the past 12 hours it has happened twice and we have already been in A&E as he hit his head really hard on the floor the other day.
Does anyone have any advise on what to do in these situations as we are not sure what else we can do to stop it happening or to try and calm him down quickly.
Thanks in advance
