I have a wonderful 12 year old boy whos just been diagnosed. He struggles socially and to be honest, he doesnt really go out besides to school. Hes in his first year of secondary school and apart from an incident involving him running out of school due to loosing it big time with another boy, hes doing ok. I do believe the secondary school have blinkers on with him, hes quiet and does not cause them problems. He told me he cannot hear the teacher but its due to him being at the back of the class.
Lukes whole world revolves around his pc and he is completely fixated with minecraft. I want to get him out of the house more but im worried that im pushing the issue or making an issue out of nothing. He suffers with severe anxiety and feels physically sick when out shopping with me.
Self care is a major issue with Luke, he does not change his clothes by choice, it takes me in excess of 30 minutes to get him to have a wash. I have to prompt him to brush his teeth and if left, he would do nothing and would stink.
Ive read about visual cues to help Luke with his self care and i have to repeat instructions such as, put shampoo on your hair everytime he showers.
im new to this and not really sure where to start
